WES Archery Team Wins Region 7 Tournament
The Westridge Archery Team competed in the Region 7 Tournament at The Cross Center last weekend and earned their 4th consecutive Region 7 title!  In addition to coming in 1st as a team, they also took home several individual medals. 
2016 Westridge Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to Mianna Holder and Denise Waddell for winning the Westridge Spelling Bee held on January 29th in the Westridge Library Media Center.  Mianna earned 1st place in a challenging last round, but was unable to attend the Franklin County Spelling Bee.  Denise Waddell, as runner-up, represented Westridge at the Franklin County Spelling Bee held on February 4th.  Congratulations to both girls. 
Congrats Collins Lane
Joining Hands FRC at Collins Lane Elementary School qualified for the United Way Born Learning Academy for the FY16/17 School year.  The program is targeted to promote kindergarten readiness for all students in our community.   In an effort to remove barriers FCPS’s  and Community Partners, along with Parent support are committed to addressing all educational barriers and enabling all children to reach their full potential.  
Checking Road Conditions

It shows what we look for when Assistant Superintendent Charley Preston and Director of Transportation Mark Watson venture out (usually around 4 a.m.) to check road conditions before we decide whether or not to cancel school. Safety is our first priority!
 
Elkhorn Middle Wrestling Comes Up Big
Elkhorn Wrestling competed at the Kentucky Middle School Wrestling State Championships yesterday in Louisville. Congratulations to Jalin Montgomery-Jones, who placed 6th at 121 pounds, and Nathaniel Lawrence, the state champion at 140 pounds! 
Watch School Subjects Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
The new episode of School Subjects will be broadcast at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Frankfort Plant Board Channel 10. Join us for a conversation with Superintendent Chrissy Jones and other guests about issues related to our public schools. This month we chat with school board member Belinda Henson, spend a few minutes with three of our Governor's Cup competitors, and learn a bit about the district's Comprehensive Improvement Plan.

Elkhorn Middle Student Wins District Spelling Bee
Congratulations to 8th grader Sanjana Rahman for winning the FCPS District Spelling Bee. She will move on to state competition March 5th in Louisville. Way to go, Sanjana! Read more....

Peaks Mill's own Tyler Ogden was the runner up in the Franklin County District Spelling Bee! We are so proud of you Tyler!
 
PME Archery
The Peaks Mill Archery Team competed in the Jessamine County Pre-Regional Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 30th and won a first place trophy with a team score of 2,929! Carson Greenwell received a medal for 2nd place elementary boys. Thiago Pires and Haley Partin both received 4th place medals, and Bailey Banks received a 5th place medal. Will Clark and Andrew Walker accepted the trophy at the awards ceremony.  
Aathman B. Wins BPE's Spelling Bee!
Bridgeport Elementary hosted their annual school wide Scripps Spelling Bee in January. Each homeroom in grades 1-5 sent a classroom winner to compete. Aathman B. was named the winner of this school spelling bee and Loukya A. was named the runner-up. Congratulations to these two awesome spellers! Aathman will go on to compete in the Regional Scripps Spelling Bee at the University of Kentucky on March 19th.  
Bondurant Middle School Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to Daniel Ward, who won the Bondurant Middle School Spelling Bee last week and will represent Bondurant at the District Spelling Bee. Nikhil Akula was runner up, and Hithan Garla came in third place. Great job!  
EMS Spelling Bee Winner
Congratulations to Sanjana Rahman for winning the Elkhorn Middle School spelling bee. She will move on to District competition next week. Way to go, Sanjana!  
EES Spelling Bee Winner
Congratulations to Sania Sairajeev, a fourth grader at Elkhorn, who won the school spelling bee competition. Sania will represent Elkhorn at the upcoming district spelling bee.  
Bondurant Governor's Cup District Champions
After a long two days of competition, I'm excited to say that Bondurant took home the overall Governor's Cup District Championship tonight at Second Street School! The 1st place quick recall team beat Good Shepherd School to take home the title after squeaking out a 1-point victory on an inquiry against Elkhorn in the semifinals. Members of the championship quick recall team are:
