The Billion Mile Race
The Billion Mile race is a non-profit organization sponsored by New Balance whose goal is to address the national epidemic of child obesity.Through this organization schools can at no cost register their school and log the number of miles students complete during the day. Each school sets a goal for themselves and the Physical Education or health professional at their school logs in the number miles completed by their school through the Billion Mile website. The data is recorded and each school is given their mile totals along with their state and national placement. Elkhorn Elementary became a part of this organization in Late October. Currently, the school has completed 4, 256 miles. Out of over 7,500 schools registered our school currently sits in 626th place nationally and 18th in Kentucky. Our school goal is 5,000 miles. Each day in Physical Education class students are given a pedometer and they run/walk for 6 minutes. Many of our staff are involved as well and have been a big part of our success. Our students have embraced this challenge and are very proud to be one of the top 1,000 schools in the United States.

Our Math/Literacy Night has been rescheduled for March 14th from 5-7. Mrs. Stacy Robbins will also be with us that night to share her new book. Please check your students papers for more information or call the school. Hope to see you there!
