The Franklin County Board of Education is seeking a parent
to serve on its superintendent search committee. Nominees must have a student
enrolling in the Franklin County Public Schools for the 2017-2018 school year.
Parents may nominate themselves or be nominated by another
person. Nominations will be accepted until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017.
To submit a nomination, please contact your school’s PTO/PTA/parent
organization officer or Assistant Superintendent Sharla Six, who is acting as
the search committee’s coordinator, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is essential that the parent representative be able to
attend all meetings of the selection committee, which are tentatively scheduled
for April 26, May 3, May 10 and May 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The parent representative will be chosen from among the
nominees during an election on Tuesday, March 28 at each school office. Votes
must be cast in person during regular office hours – typically the start of the
school day until 5:30 p.m. Votes will be counted Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m.
by parent organization officers and Ms. Six. The parent representative with the most votes will be announced on or before
Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Earlier this year,
Superintendent Chrissy Jones announced her retirement on June 30, 2017. The
school board subsequently established a search committee and set May 31 as the
target date to name a new superintendent.
