Elkhorn Elementary Student wins District Spelling Bee
Terrell and Daniel Ward, a 7th-grader at Bondurant Middle School, were the two finalists. They alternated spelling of words before Terrell finally won, correctly spelling “pyramid” to win the championship. After the competition ended, moderator and host Jim Masters expressed his relief saying, “I was starting to think we might run out of words!”

The eight school champions competing yesterday were (in alphabetical order): Terrell Clark, grade 4, Elkhorn Elementary; Nathan Gabbard, grade 5, Westridge Elementary; Havilland Harris, grade 8, Elkhorn Middle School; Varshith Kotagiri, grade 4, Bridgeport Elementary; Amy McClure, grade 5, Hearn Elementary; Tyler Ogden, grade 5, Peaks Mill Elementary; Nicholas True, grade 5, Collins Lane Elementary; and Daniel Ward, grade 7, Bondurant Middle School.
