the season on a high note today at the State Governor's Cup Finals in
Louisville. Bondurant finished 7th Overall in the State for the 2nd
consecutive year, and also crowned its second State Champion in school history
as Chinmay Tope took home 1st place in the state in science!
Quick Recall team picked up where it left off yesterday after winning their
pool at state. In the first match this morning, the Braves knocked off the
defending state champion Russell Independent in overtime 35-32, avenging
last year's defeat in the same round.
After moving on
to the Quarterfinals against 15 time overall state champion Johnson
County, Bondurant found itself down 8-0 early. The team regrouped and tied
Johnson 16-16 at the half.
The second half
saw BMS come back from a deficit of 5 points, and going into the last question
of the match the Braves trailed by only a single point. Johnson scored on the
final question of the match to win in a nailbiter 32-30.
After the match
the Johnson coach raved about the poise and sportsmanship of our team. Our
performance over the weekend earned us 5th place in the state in quick recall,
the highest finish ever for the Bondurant quick recall team. It was an
amazing performance that every team member should be proud of. Team members
