To our Collins Lane Neighbors: We want to inform you that work on the new Collins Lane Elementary School will continue during part of the Thanksgiving weekend, specifically Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Workers need to take advantage of the fact that there will be no school – meaning there will be no traffic in the parking lot - to install a new storm sewer line underneath the existing main parking lot. This work will begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. Work will be suspended on Thanksgiving Day, but will resume at 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, ending around dusk. It is expected to resume again at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25.
The work entails removing a portion of the asphalt surface in the existing parking lot, roughly from the school’s Crosshill Drive entrance, across the main parking lot and into the construction site itself. Excavation equipment will be used to dig a trench, and if workers encounter rock they may be forced to use a hoe-ram to break and remove it. They will then install pipes and backfill the trench.
We have asked work crews to make every attempt to minimize noise and inconvenience, and we apologize in advance in the event you experience either one. As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
