About 70 people attended a rally at Bondurant Middle School last night to show support for preservation of the pension systems of public employees in Kentucky and to learn about the current reform proposal.
The rally, sponsored by the Franklin County Education Association, drew a variety of public employees, including current school teachers, administrators and other school district employees as well as current state employees and retirees from both groups. The rally was held at Bondurant Middle School.
State representatives Derrick Graham and James Kay and Senator Reggie Thomas spoke about the current reform proposal and answered questions from those in attendance. They also urged all state and school district employees to contact their state legislators to express their opinions about the proposed reforms.
FCS Supt. Mark Kopp, other district staff and several FCS principals attended the session. Mr. Kopp spoke briefly, expressing support for educators and offering to assist in the effort to maintain the pension benefits of FCS and Kentucky educators.
