Students Advance to State in Governor's Cup
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Abdullah Ateyeh, Katie Bennett, and Theresa Jaminet--all three students are going to STATE Governor's Cup with top five finishes in written exams. Jaclyn Aldridge is also going with a Top 5 finish in written composition. 
 
Abdullah--3rd in math

Katie--3rd in both language arts AND humanities

Theresa--4th in language arts
 
Jaclyn Aldridge--5th in written composition

Western Hills placed 4th overall in quick recall as well as 4th overall in total points--out of 16 teams.
 
Since Ryan Hale has been coaching, this is the most students WHHS has ever sent to State in one year. We are very proud of Abdullah, Katie, Theresa, Jaclyn and the entire team. We have some pretty phenomenal students. 
 
Students Selected for EKU Honor Band
The WHHS Band had 21 students selected to go to EKU honor band!  The honor band will be February 23rd-25th, with students auditioning for positions, having many rehearsals and sectionals, and will have a culminating performance on Saturday the 25th at the EKU Center for the Arts.  Those selected were: Landron Powell, Carter Stinnett, Carter Cantrell, Aaron Crombie, Abdullah Ateyeh, Amanda Hargis, Ashely Ni, Austin Gatewood, Barrett Bloch, Cassia Cairell, Catie Montgomery, Chandler Craine, Chris Riensche, Christa Hall, Hailey Buffin, Madison Smith, Matthew Spencer, Russell Smith, Stephen Riensche, Will Clayton, Bradley Hughes, and Courtney McDavid.   
WHHS Wrestlers Advance to State

to the State Tournament.

BETA Club Wins at State BETA Convention

·         Western Hills High School BETA Club received a Third place overall recognition at the recent state convention.  First and second place finishers have the opportunity to compete at the national convention.  Kudos to the following students for their accomplishments.

Wolverine Dance Team Places First at Cheers for the New Year
Congratulations to the Wolverine Dance Team who earned first place in the Varsity Hip-Hop Division at the Cheers for the New Year competition in Lexington. They outscored teams from Henry Clay, Scott County and Tates Creek. Up next for them is the KDCO State competition on February 18th at the Frankfort Civic Center. Everyone is welcome to come out and show their support.

Nick Wooldridge Named as a State Finalist for Wendy's High School Heisman
Wendy's recognizes Western Hills High School's, Stephen Nicholas Wooldridge, a high character student-athlete who has displayed excellence and integrity both on and off the field as a State Finalist in the Wendy's High School Heisman. For these students, taking the easy way out or cutting corners isn't an option and Wendy's is proud to honor their dedication.
 
WHHS Teachers Chosen to Attend ISTE Conference
Congratulations to Rhonda Bell, Anita Groenwoldt, and Rachel Medina who were recently chosen to attend the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Conference in San Antonio, TX, on June 25-28. These three ladies will join 22 other teachers, library media specialists, school technology coordinators, and computer technicians as representatives from the Franklin County School District. Upon their return from the conference, they plan to share new ideas with their colleagues by offering professional development trainings.

Blood Drive:

  • Blood drive will be on Wednesday, March 1st. If you are interested in donating, please see Ms. Bennett in the front office to schedule an appointment. 

Harry Potter Club:

  • The HP Club is presenting the Yule Ball on February 25th. Buy tickets the week of it. $4 for singles and $6 for couples.
